Employers across Coventry and Warwickshire are being urged to become part of a powerful new network between local businesses and schools and colleges in the area.
The Enterprise Adviser Network is being launched at the Lloyds Bank Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre on the MTC’s Ansty Park campus on Thursday, October 20 from 4.15pm to 5.45pm.
The network is being launched by the Coventry and Warwickshire LEP Growth Hub, in conjunction with the Coventry and Warwickshire LEP (CWLEP) and the Careers and Enterprise Company.
The event will offer businesses the opportunity to find out more about how business leaders can become enterprise advisers, and play a key role supporting secondary schools and colleges to equip students with the skills they and their future bosses need.
Enterprise advisers are being recruited as volunteers for them to use their knowledge of the world of work to make a lasting positive impact on the futures of a whole generation of young people.
More than 20 partnerships between businesses and schools and colleges have already been formed ahead of the launch.
Dave Lennox has been appointed the area’s first enterprise co-ordinator after the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP) received funding from the Careers & Enterprise Company which has been launched by the Department for Education.
He said: “Linking employers with schools and colleges is hugely important in helping to equip students with the skills they need and their future bosses need.
“The Enterprise Adviser Network launch will be a perfect opportunity for employers to find out more about how they could support students in Coventry and Warwickshire and how they can help schools and colleges to further develop their careers and enterprise strategies.
“We’re delighted to have already forged 20 partnerships between employers and education and the launch event will feature a bit of background about how these partnerships are developing and are moving forward.”
Rachael Stewart, skills executive at the CWLEP, added: “We’re excited by the launch of this new network and look forward to helping forge new link ups between employers and schools and colleges in the area.
“Skills is one of the key drivers of the CWLEP and we believe the network can play a major role in helping students to make informed choices about life after school and college, and develop skills to be ready for the work world.”
Guest speakers at the launch include Claudia Harris, CEO of The Careers and Enterprise Company and Craig Humphrey, managing director of the Coventry and Warwickshire LEP Growth Hub. Attendees will also hear from existing enterprise advisers already recruited, as well as schools and colleges involved in the programme.
The event begins at 4.15pm, with an opportunity to network and speak with staff involved in the programme, before concluding at 5.45pm with a further opportunity to network. To book a place please email David.Lennox@cwgrowthhub.co.uk.
