North Warwickshire is a mostly rural area with several small towns. The main town in the district is Atherstone where the offices of North Warwickshire Borough Council are based. Other significant places in the district include Coleshill, Polesworth and Kingsbury.
Historically the area had a large coal mining industry, but this has almost died out.
The area benefits from The Belfry, a world-famous golf course known for hosting more Ryder Cup matches than any other venue.
North Warwickshire now has significantly high proportions of plant & machine operatives, caring leisure and other service occupations but a relatively low number of professional occupations next to the rest of the region.

Like Coventry, the largest proportion of jobs in North Warwickshire, are in public administration; education and health. Other popular industries in the borough include distribution, hotels and restaurants, and manufacturing.
