Coventry & Warwickshire Business Festival really taking off

July 25, 2017

The first Coventry & Warwickshire Business Festival is starting to gain momentum with lots of applications to host events now flooding in.

The Festival, developed by the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and the Coventry & Warwickshire Growth Hub will see an exciting fortnight of business events taking place across the whole Coventry & Warwickshire area, between 20th November and 1st December 2017.

The aim of the Festival is to stimulate local business growth and shout about the strength of Coventry and Warwickshire businesses and the fantastic breadth of industries based in the region.

Over 65 expressions of interest to host events have been received, and since the website went live on 19th June and 32 formal event applications have now been submitted into the approval process.

Events range across a variety of business sectors and will appeal to a mixture of audiences. They include a large Food and Drink event that will connect buyers from across the country with local suppliers; a Leisure and Tourism networking event at Twycross Zoo; a seminar about managing health and wellbeing in the workplace; as well as an extremely topical, women in business event: “Woman Who” featuring well-known, inspirational speakers.

Some events aimed at the SME (Small to Medium-sized Enterprises) audience, include seminars about how to manage taxes better, property and the VAT trap; the benefits of holding your finances in the cloud, as well as a number of pension auto-enrolment webinars.

There will also be various topical economic-based events including a seminar on how Coventry & Warwickshire can make Brexit work for the region and a live review of the Autumn statement (subject to date to be confirmed), which will feature debates between senior business leaders and academics from across the region. In addition, a careers speed networking will give 450 year 10 and 12 students from across the region the opportunity to come face to face with up to 75 local employers.

Craig Humphrey, managing director of the Coventry & Warwickshire Growth Hub, said: “The Business Festival programme is starting fill out nicely. This shows there is a real appetite from organisations across in area to get involved in this new initiative that will raise the profile of Coventry & Warwickshire on a local, regional and national scale, in a way that’s never been done in this region before.

“There’s already a really good mix of interesting events in the pipeline that will appeal to a range of different audiences. I urge businesses to look at the website and see how they can get involved.”

Jonathan Browning, chair of the Coventry & Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), said: “The Business Festival will demonstrate how Coventry & Warwickshire is the ‘Knowledge Capital of the UK’ and will show the rest of the UK our strengths, opportunities and potential as a beacon for investment.”

“It will provide a solid platform to show how our businesses can unite to be a driving force in commerce, innovation and culture.”

Any business or organisation of any size can apply to run an event, which can take any shape from a small networking meeting, workshop or seminar to a large trade show or a national conference.

The Business Festival has an expected market reach of around two million in year one alone. Around 50-75 seminars, lectures, workshops and conferences and 5,000 - 7,500 attendees (with around 15-18% of these being from outside of Coventry & Warwickshire), are anticipated over the fortnight.

The Festival is also attracting support from local organisations who are recognising the profile-raising opportunities that the Business Festival presents. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. For more information, or to details on how to apply to run an event, visit www.cwbusinessfestival.com or contact hello@cwbusinessfestival.com.
