With just under two weeks to go until the start of the first annual Coventry & Warwickshire Business Festival, the logistics and distribution sector is playing a key part in highlighting the enviable central location of the region.
The Business Festival is two weeks of free business events taking place across Coventry & Warwickshire for the first time between Monday 20 November and Friday 1 December. Amongst the packed programme comprising over 100 events in total, the Logistics and Distribution sector is staging a number of inspiring events aimed at businesses and professionals across the UK working in the industry.
Coventry & Warwickshire’s excellent road, air and rail links coupled with its prime, central location in the heart of the ‘Golden Triangle’ means 98 per cent of the UK is accessible within four hours’ drive.
As a result, the region has emerged as a premier location for national logistics operators such as DPD, which will be examining the local employment opportunities and logistic skills needs in the area in the Business Festival through its ‘The Future of Logistics Within the Golden Triangle: Employment & Skills’ event on 23 November.
International logistics company, Exact Logistics, based in Rugby will also be running an event on Tuesday 28 November, looking at how small businesses can benefit from Coventry & Warwickshire’s superb central location and excellent transport connections.
Adam and Karen Shuter, Owners of Exact Logistics are the Business Festival sector leads for Distribution & Logistics. Adam said, "We are right at the heart of the logistics industry, with fantastic connections by road and rail to the UK, Europe and beyond. Logistics has become an important industry with some very big players choosing to locate their warehouses here.
“However, we should not forget that much smaller logistics companies as well as manufacturers and distributers gain competitive advantage from this central location and the Business Festival gives us a chance to highlight this"
The Coventry & Warwickshire Business Festival has been developed by the Coventry & Warwickshire Growth Hub and the Coventry & Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and it is supported by headline partner, the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC).
