With just under two weeks until the start of the first annual Coventry & Warwickshire Business Festival, health and wellbeing is forming an important part of the programme.
The Business Festival is two weeks of free business events, running for the first time across Coventry & Warwickshire between Monday 20 November and Friday 1 December. It consists of eight sectors, each one carefully selected to showcase the region's broad, but strong economy.
Amongst a packed Business Festival programme comprising over 100 events in total, Health and Wellbeing features four particularly strong events aimed at professionals working in related industries across the UK. Events examine the issues that affect productivity in the workforce, such as stress and mental health.
Childcare providers, Evasitters is running an interactive educational Wellbeing seminar on Monday 27 November for businesses or individuals who wish to be more productive in their life and work.
On Tuesday 28 November, Coventry University Enterprises is bringing together digital healthcare SMEs for a network evening to share experiences and discuss challenges and opportunities that the sector presents. Leading digital healthcare innovators will be on hand to share the latest thinking and encourage business promotion using digital platforms.
The Emerald Group will be looking at how to improve mental health in the workplace on Wednesday 29 November, raising awareness of mental health issues and signposting employers to support available. On the same day, businesses are invited to join experts from Coventry University and Coventry City Council for an informal and interactive lunch time seminar focusing on workforce physical and mental health with techniques to help combat absenteeism due to stress.
Dr. Anne Coufopoulos, associate dean (Enterprise & Commercial), Coventry University is the Business Festival sector lead for Health and Wellbeing. She said, “Health at work is fundamentally important for people, our economy and workplace and it is really positive to see this sector represented at the Business Festival.”
The healthcare sector accounts for a significant number of jobs in Coventry & Warwickshire. The University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire is the second largest employer in Coventry, with around 6,500 people working between its two hospitals in Coventry and Rugby.
The Coventry & Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust is the fifth biggest employer in the region with around 3,500 staff providing a range of mental health, learning disability and community health services to 850,000 people living within Coventry and Warwickshire.
The Coventry & Warwickshire Business Festival has been developed by the Coventry & Warwickshire Growth Hub and the Coventry & Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and it is supported by headline partner, the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC). The Festival encompasses everything from conferences, seminars, workshops, trade shows to exhibitions, award ceremonies and recruitment fairs. Events are put on by businesses or organisations to encourage business growth.
